La villa romana La Olmeda es uno de los principales yacimientos del bajo imperio romano conservados en la península ibérica. Donada a la Diputación Provincial de Palencia en 1980, la Junta de Castilla y León la declaró Bien de Interés Cultural el 3 de abril de 1996. Las obras correspondientes a la musealización actual comenzaron en octubre de 2005 y nalizaron el 31 de marzo de 2009.
