El 13 de enero de 1999 nació la ONG Geólogos del Mundo gracias al impulso del ICOG y la FEG. Desde aquella fecha y durante sus cinco años de existencia se han acumulado muchas experiencias, generalmente buenas, conseguidas gracias al gran esfuerzo y dedicación de quienes iniciamos la marcha, tenidas en cuenta las dificultades que hemos ido encontrando por el camino. Se ha de destacar el trabajo, la colaboración y el esfuerzo de muchos compañeros y compañeras que han intervenido sucesivamente en la consecución de los diferentes proyectos. Esto ha permitido avanzar siguiendo el principal objetivo planteado inicialmente: poner la geología al servicio de los países en vías de desarrollo para reducir su vulnerabilidad ante agentes geológicos adversos.n
