Este libro es la culminación del Seminario Internacional de Medio Ambiente que bajo el título "Cambio Ambiental Global: una perspectiva multiescalar» tuvo lugar en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Univeridad de Girona los días 9 y 10 de septiembre de 2008. Este seminario organizado por el Institut de Medi Ambient (IMA-UdG) supone al mismo tiempo la realización de la octava edición de la International Summer School on the Environment (ISSE) que se puso en marcha desde el IMA-UdG hace una década. Estos cursos y seminarios nacieron con la voluntad de profundizar en los conocimientos ambientales y al mismo tiempo difundir temáticas vinculadas a problemáticas claves en el marco de la sociedad contemporánea. En esta línea se han tratado cuestiones como los incendios forestales, el consumo responsable o la gestión del agua sólo por poner algunos ejemplos.n
