This book brings together in one volume studies (published or unpublished) by the architect Josep Danés (1891-1955) on the "masia" during the years 1914-1936. His research on the subject had a significant impact on cultural environments of Catalonia. His main contribution was to discover in the "masia" an architectural structure (which he defined as "classical") based on three bodies and a central hall, which occurred a constant architectural unchanged over the centuries XVI-XX. He also questioned the supposed "popular" origin of this kind of house. His argument, stripped of ideology, have largely remained in place until today. Texts of the architect of Olot (edited and cured by the philologist David Prats) are accompanied by an introductory essay by architect Jerome Moner and historian and professor at the University of Girona Joaquim M. Puigvert which seeks to synthetically readers the tools to contextualize (architectural and historical) danesianes contributions to knowledge of the "masia".
