«Walter Benjamin. Una autobiografía de la Modernidad» proposes a literary approach to the thought of the German philosopher from the perspective of comparative literature, articulating the theory of the essay, the literature of ideas and the writing of the self. The central thesis of this book is that virtually all of Benjamin's work, from philosophy to literary criticism, from the essay to the chronicle, and, of course, his stories and writings of a more explicitly memorialistic character, is imbued with a sense of the writing of the self, although he promised himself never to use the first person singular personal pronoun except in letters. In this sense his archaeology of modernity is also a meditation on the individual in modernity itself.
