Description
This book provides a particular sense of satisfaction in that it brings together a body of scientific work presented in conferences and colloquiums during the acts that took place in 2001 and, above all, in 2002 to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the founding of the Borja Institute of Bioethics. This volume contains the conferences of the three main acts; the first one, on December 14, 2001, dealt with the topic of professionalism in bioethics, organized by Dr. Albert Oriol Bosch, director of the Institute of Health Studies (Institut d'Estudis de la Salut). The second, on April 26 2002, brought together notable representatives of Catalan universities under the theme "The challenges of bioethics in the twenty-first century". These two acts took place in the auditorium of the Education Building at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona). The third and concluding act of the anniversary took place on November 15, 2002. It consisted of an international conference at the Generalitat Palace (Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya), with the participation of outstanding specialists in bioethics from all over the world to discuss the theme "Bioethics dialogue, human progress and social responsibility".
